Penalty Scores - From 1st April 2022

Under the World Handicapping System (WHS) the player is totally responsible for submitting their score once it has been pre-registered. Failure to do so without providing the committee with a valid reason, will incur an automated penalty score.

Until now I have simply deleted these "Score Intents" and kept a record of who registered them.

I have now turned on Penalty Scores. So if you do not enter a score within 3 days of registering you will be automatically given a penalty score which is likely to be one of your best 8 scores. For example, a player with a handicap index of 14.3 will be given a penalty score calculated as follows:

                 Course Rating (66.6) + Course Handicap (15) = 82

However, if you register in error and let me know within the 3 days I can remove this and a penalty score will not be applied.

If you register through the England Golf app you may already have noticed this is already happening.

To find out more, search "England Golf Penalty Scores" or ask your handicap secretary (Richard Spencer, Lee Leonard, Ginge Dudley) or a member of the committee

Richard Spencer (Honorary Secretary)
