Q. Why should I join Southwick Park Golf Club?
A. There are many reasons to join the SPGC, we have a friendly, welcoming membership. A beautiful 18-hole Parkland Golf Course, set in the glorious Hampshire countryside that can play throughout the year, thanks to comprehensive drainage works. With extensive practice facilities, driving range, chipping area, indoor and outdoor practice area. We are proud to be associated with 10 reciprocal golf clubs (T&C’s apply). We have an exciting competition and tournament schedule, which include friendly matches with many other Clubs. SPGC have an excellent social calendar organised by both the Sections and the Catering department. Our newly renovated Clubhouse offers a wide range of delicious food and drinks. As a member you have the ability to hire the Clubhouse for your private functions, at a reduced rate. Not forgetting the Skittle Alley! With our modern and up-to-date website and booking facilities, powered by Intelligent Golf, you are in complete control and up to date with the latest news. Our newly refurbished Pro Shop can cater for all your golfing needs, with a team of dedicated staff to assist you. So, as you can see, we have much to offer, why not come down to see for yourself?
Q. What is different about a Private Members Club?
A. As a member of a Private Golf Club, you, along with all its members, own the Club and can take part and help give direction to its future. This can be done by simply leaving a comment in the ‘Comments Book’ in the Clubhouse, or, if you have the time, passion and experience/expertise you feel would benefit the Club, you can join one of our Committees. We also have a dedicated Board of Directors, whom all are volunteers and members of SPGC.
Q. When does your membership year start?
A. Our membership year runs from 1st May to 30th April.
Q. Can I join the Club in the middle of the membership year, and what are the costs?
A. Yes! You can join the Club at anytime throughout the membership year, we simply pro-rata the cost, so you only pay for the remainder of the membership year. Download a membership application form HERE.
Q. How can I pay for my membership?
A. We accept payment by Card, BACS and Direct Debit.
Q. How do I set up a Direct Debit?
A. Simply visit the Office to complete the necessary paperwork.
Q. How does the Direct Debit work?
A. Our Direct Debits are run through Premium Credit. The DD’s are usually taken over a 9-month period from 1st May to 1st January, there are no payments for February/March/April. Premium Credit charge 6.75%APR, this rate can change, annually, but they communicate this to all members before any increases. We require at least one months’ payment up-front.
Q. How many yards is the Golf Course?
A. Red Tees 5223yds. Yellow Tees 5468yds. White Tees 5884yds.
Q. How many steps does it take to play a round of Golf?
A. This can vary from person to person and is a difficult question to answer exactly, but we estimate this to be around 10,000 steps!
Q. How many calories are burned playing Golf?
A. You can burn anywhere between 100-300 calories every 30 minutes playing the game of Golf, this will vary depending on many factors, but with these numbers, you can see playing Golf is an excellent way to keep your heart healthy and keep you in great shape.
Q. How do I obtain a handicap?
A. Play 3 rounds of Golf with a fellow member (with an official handicap), complete a Scorecard for each round and have these signed by said fellow member. These are then posted in the designated post box in the respective Changing Room. Our Honorary Secretary will then review the cards and assign you a handicap. Be sure to complete the Scorecard fully and legibly.
Q. How do I enter for competitions?
A. This depends on the type of competition and which Section you are playing with. For a Major Men’s Competitions, you would register and prepay in the Golf Professional Shop, within the Competition deadline. For Men’s Rollup competitions you would register with the Golf Professional Shop and pay on the day. Ladies Competitions, you would register on the board in the Changing Rooms and pay directly to the Ladies Section, this is the same process for the Vets Section.
Q. Do you have regular Catering events?
A. Yes, we have a Curry Buffet every Wednesday and weekly Sunday Carveries.
Q. Can I have my Wedding venue at Southwick Park Golf Club?
A. Yes, we have a dedicated team who will help you organise you special day, please visit our Weddings & Venues page, or contact our Bar & Catering Team on 02392380131 (Option 4) for further details.
Q. Who do I make a cheque payable to?
A. Cheques for a membership, clubhouse hire/events and catering should be sent to the Office and made out to ‘Southwick Park Golf Club Ltd’. Cheques for Men’s Competitions should be made out to ‘Southwick Park Golf Club’.
Q. I hear you have a Skittle Alley?
A. Yes! As a member you can hire the Skittle Alley at a reduced rate, this is a fantastic way to bring all the family together and enjoy some great company and food, playing Skittles. This facility is available for all to hire, members and guests alike. So, why not bring along your team?
Q. Do you have Christmas events?
A. Yes! Christmas being our favourite time of year, we go all out! The season is filled with events in the Clubhouse and on the Course. From Christmas Carveries, Festive Dinner Dances, all with dedicated tantalising menus. The Clubhouse is beautifully decorated and seasonal music is played, guaranteed to get you in the spirit of Christmas. On the Course there are seasonal tournaments and much more.
Q. I am new to Golf, can I book lessons?
